Welcome to the Miramar Ship Index
The Miramar Ship Index, domiciled in the suburb of Miramar, Wellington, New Zealand is an historical database listing both merchant powered ships of about 100 gross register tons and above and naval ships of even smaller tonnage displacement; and also composite, iron & steel sailing ships. The website is upgraded about the turn of each month
The Website was last updated on 28 June 2009 :
- Number of single ship reports is 232,090.
- Number of entries in the name index is 427,340.
- During June the new 1994 Starke Register was progressed along with individual ship corrections and entry enhancements, and planning progress was made on a major upgrade to the website scheduled for August. This upgrade will be outlined in a re-write of the About Page in late July.
- Thanks are due to those users who have sent both corrections and new information. The website continues to benefit from your efforts.
- CD-ROM Version 1.1 is now available with some minor enhancements to the query program enabling American letter-size paper output and some hints on usage.
- The CD-ROM version of the database offers much more functionality than the website and is particularly suitable for those who want a copy on their desktop PC, or away from the home/office with a laptop. See the "About" and the "Disksales" pages for further details.
- With immediate effect, CD-ROMs will be produced on the date of despatch, rather than once per month. This means that usually the disks will run ahead of the website. Quarterly disks will continue to be supplied as before.
